How does finasteride work for hair loss?

Finasteride inhibits the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone to DHT — the hormone responsible for shrinking hair follicles in androgenetic alopecia. By reducing DHT levels, finasteride halts follicle miniaturization and, in many cases, stimulates regrowth.

How long does it take to see results?

Hair growth is slow by nature. Most patients see stabilization of hair loss within 3–6 months and visible regrowth at 6–12 months. Consistency is key — treatments must be continued to maintain results.

Are hair loss treatments available for women?

Yes. Women's hair loss is treated with topical minoxidil, low-dose oral minoxidil, spironolactone, and nutritional support. Our physicians are experienced in female hair loss and its hormonal contributors.

What are the side effects of finasteride?
